Chapter 1 Introduction

1.1 	Introduction
Entrega's motto is simple, "We fix it or We replace it." Our goal is to provide you with as much proactive support as possible.  The purpose of this manual is to:
* Introduce you to the Entrega 4U2S1P Hub
* Walk you through a step-by-step process of easy installation procedures
* Provide you with the support you need should there be a problem

Note:  This parallel converter is only used with printers.

1.2 	Unpacking
Our unique package was designed for ease of unpacking.  The Entrega 4U2S1P Hub is enclosed in a plastic case (clamshell).  The installation diskette and USB Cable are stored at the bottom of the box, under the clamshell. The manual is located on the side between the clamshell and box.

Note:  Please keep the original packaging for warranty/non-warranty replacement or repair.    

The following items are included and are needed to install this product:
* One (1) Entrega 4U2S1P Hub   
* One (1) detachable 2 meter (6ft.) USB cable
* Two (2) 3.5-inch diskettes with installation drivers 
* One (1) AC power supply
* This product manual

1.3 	Warranty Registration
Please take a few seconds and register your new Entrega Hub.  There are two ways to register:
* Register at www.entrega.com
Online registration is quick and easy.
* Register through the mail
We have supplied a product registration card at the back of this manual; just fill it out and mail directly to Entrega Technologies.

1.4 	Product Introduction
It's small, but this Entrega 4U2S1P Hub is a big problem solver.  This hub enables you to connect both a Serial and Parallel device as well as four USB devices.  An important point when you consider that USB connections can handle data transfers up to 100 times faster than ordinary connections. The moment you spot the Entrega logo, you will know the product is 100% USB compliant.

1.5 	System Requirements 
Software:
This product requires Windows 95b(OSR2.1) or Windows 98.  Windows 95b must, at a minimum, be OSR2.1 version 1214, which contains the USB supplement.

Hardware:
IBM 486/66 compatible processor or higher with a USB port or an Entrega USB Upgrade kit installed.

If you're not sure your system is USB compatible, follow the steps below: 
Go to www.entrega.com and download the "USB Ready" program
Run USB Ready on your system

If your computer has USB turned on and the Windows software supports USB, the text will read:
"This system DOES have support for USB."

If your system does not support USB, the text will read:

"This system DOES NOT currently support USB!"

If your system does not support USB, click on the DETAILS button.
A. If the system hardware support window reads:
"No USB Host Controller Found"
The necessary hardware, USB Host Controller, has not been detected. If this is the case, or you do not have USB connectors on your computer, you will need to purchase the Entrega PCI to USB upgrade card (2 or 4 port) to make your computer USB ready or upgrade your hardware to a 486/66 processor or greater.  

B. If the system software support windows reads:
"Windows 95 version (4.0.1111, 4.0950 or 4.0950a)"
The operating system you are currently running does not support USB.  You will need to upgrade to Windows98 in order to have full USB support.

Chapter 2 Installation

2.1 Basic Installation Procedures for the Entrega 4U2S1P Hub

                                             Five Part Installation

A.	 Entrega USB Hub Load:
1. Insert either the Windows 95 or Windows 98 installation disk into the computer floppy disk drive.  Plug the USB cable into the downstream Type A connector located in the back of your computer and the Type B connector into your Entrega Adapter.

Note:  If you are already running a Entrega USB Hub please proceed to step B

2. The "New Hardware Found" window automatically appears.
3. The wizard searches for new drivers for Generic USB Hub. Click next.
4. Select, "Search the best driver for your device."
5.      The following dialog box will appear:



6.     Select "Specify Location" and type your Windows directory location, typically C:\Win95 or C:\Win98, or insert your Windows CD.  Click next.
7.     Windows will find the driver for your Hub (usbhub.sys).

B.	USB to Parallel Load:
1. The "Entrega USB to Parallel Converter" window automatically appears.
2. The wizard searches for new drivers for this device.   Click next.
3. Select, "Search the best driver for your device."
4. The following dialog box will appear:



5. Select <Floppy Disk Drive>.  Click next.
6. Windows will look and find a driver for your Entrega USB to Parallel.    
7. Click Finish to complete the installation.

C. 	 USB Serial Firmware Load:
1. A window will automatically appear "Entrega USB Serial Firmware."
2. The wizard searches for new drivers for this device.   Click next.
3. Select, "Search the best driver for your device."
4.  The following box will appear:



5. Select <Floppy Disk>.  Click next.
6. The system finds ETISERA2.INF for Entrega 2 port USB to Serial Firmware.
7. Click finish to complete the installation.

D.	 USB to Dual Serial Converter Driver Load:
1. The "New Hardware Found" window automatically appears.
2. The wizard searches for drivers for Entrega USB Dual Serial Converter.  Click next.
3. Follow steps B3 - B7.
4. Windows is finished installing the software for the Entrega USB Dual Serial Converter drivers.  Click Finish.

E. 	COM Port Load:
.	The "New Hardware Found" window automatically appears. The system looks for the next available COM port and assigns it a number [i.e. USB Communications Port (Com X) where X is the next available Communications Port assigned by your system].  Your system four USB communications ports.










2.2 	Device manager
2.2.1 Verify your Entrega 4U2S1P Hub Installation  
1. On the desktop right click "My Computer."
2. Go to the bottom and click on properties.  Select Device Manager.
3. The following dialog box will appear with the Entrega 4U2S1P Hub









4. If the Entrega USB to Serial Converter is highlighted with yellow exclamation point, the driver had a problem loading.
5. Double click on the yellow exclamation point and go to the DRIVER window.  At the bottom, select reload drivers.
6. Insert the Installation disk and reload the drivers.

2.2.2	Check LED's
An LED light monitors performance; it lets you know that the USB Connections are working properly. 
   
* USB Ports 1,2,3, & 4 = When the LED's are red power is on, when the LED turns to green a device has been plugged in.
* Parallel Port = The LED is red until there is data flowing, then LED flashes green.
* Serial Ports = This LED is red until there is data flowing then the LED turns green.
* 
2.3	If Installation was not successful 
Overwriting the Previous Installation
                  Sometimes the regular installation process won't complete itself.  If this is the case, please follow the steps below:

1. Unplug the Entrega 4U2S1P Hub from the computer.
2. Insert the installation diskette in your A: drive.    
3. Go to Control Panel.  Click on Add/Remove Programs. 
4. Remove the USB to Serial Converter and the USB to Parallel Converter.      
5. Go to Section 2.1/New Installation and reinstall this device.

3.2	 Limited 3 Year Warranty Policy
At any time within three years from its date of purchase, you may return this Entrega product, if it fails to perform for free repair or replacement.  
This warranty does not cover any product that is rendered inoperable due to damage as a result of accident, disaster, misuse, or unauthorized modification of the product.

3.5 	How to get a defective unit repaired or exchanged
If you are in the need of a warranty/non-warranty replacement or repair, please fill out the Entrega RMA form Fig 1.  This form can be sent to us in the following ways:

* Go to www.entrega.com and fill out the RMA form and click send
* Go to www.entrega.com and download our RMA form which only takes seconds, print this form, and fax it us 
* Call us and we will send you this form via fax
          
Please adhere to the following when filling out the RMA form:

* If you download the RMA Form, please fill out the date of request;      if you are sending this form on-line the date is automatic
* Fill out and review the billing and shipping addresses completely
* Enter your fax and phone number
* List your means of payment (Check #)
* Check the preferred shipping method you wish Entrega to use when returning the item
* List the model number found on the back of the product
* List the serial number found on the back of the product
* Provide a detailed description of the problem that you are experiencing  and the applications you are using (If this area is not detailed, the form will be faxed back to the end user requesting more information causing a delay in the repair, or credit)

Upon receiving the RMA request, the technical support department will issue an RMA # and they will fax or e-mail the original form back to the sender.  Ship the defective component, in its original packaging, with the RMA # visible on the outside of the carton, the RMA form enclosed and ships to Entrega Technologies:
