Basic Installation Procedures for the Entrega USB to Serial Converter

Three part Installation:

A. USB to Serial Firmware Load:

1. Insert either the Windows 95 or Windows 98 installation disk into your computer's floppy disk drive. Plug the USB cable into the downstream Type A connector located in the back of your computer and the Type B connector into your Entrega Serial converter.
2. A window will automatically appear "Unknown Device Found."  Click next.
3. Select, "Search the best driver for your device."
4. The following box will appear:
5. Click next.
6. The system will automatically search the floppy for the applicable driver.  Once the INF file is located, it will prompt you to install.  Click next.
7. The system will automatically load the drivers and build a driver information database.
8. Windows is finished installing the software for the Entrega 1 Port to Serial Firmware.  Click Finish.

B. USB to Serial Converter Driver Load:

1. A window will automatically appear "New Hardware Found."
2. The wizard searches for drivers for Entrega USB to Serial converter.  Click next.
3. Follow steps 3 - 7 above.
4. Windows is finished installing the software for the Entrega 1 port USB to Serial converter drivers.  Click Finish.

C. COM Port Load:

A window will automatically appear "New Hardware Found."  The system looks for the next available COM port and assigns it a number [i.e. USB Communications Port (Com X) where X will be the next available Communications Port assigned by your system].

2.2 Device Manager

2.2.1	Double-check your Entrega USB to Serial converter installation
1. On the desktop right click "My Computer."
2. Go to the bottom and click on properties.
3. Click on the "Device Manager" tab.
4. Double click "Ports."
5. The following dialogue box will appear displaying the Entrega COM Port as "USB Communications Port  (COMX)"

Note: The Entrega COM Port will be the next available COM Port.

6. If the Entrega USB to Serial converter is highlighted with yellow exclamation point in the Device manager, the driver had a problem loading.
7. Double click on the USB COM Device with  yellow exclamation point and go to the Driver window.  At the bottom, select reload drivers.  This will reload the drivers from the A: \ that were supplied with your converter.

2.2.2 Check LED's
An LED light monitors performance; it lets you know that the serial device and USB port are working properly.  When the LED is red, power is on; a green and red blinking LED indicates data is transferring

2.3	If installation was not successful
Overwriting the previous installation
Sometimes the regular installation process won't complete itself.  If this is the case, please follow the steps below:

1. From the Start menu, select Settings/Control panel to display the Windows Control Panel
2. Double click the "Add/Remove programs" icon.
3. In the Install/Uninstall Property page, select USB to Serial Converter, click the Add/Remove icon.
4. Click <O.K.> to remove "Entrega to Serial driver and installation files" and also "Entrega mouse driver and installation files."
5. Click <Done> when completed, and close "Add/Remove Programs" Properties page.
6.  Go to Section 2.1/New Installation and reinstall this device.
